Is there a cost for this event?
No, it is free for everyone. But all participants should preregister.

What workshops does AARP TEK offer?
AARP TEK offers two types of workshops.
TEK Workshops include Introduction to Tablets, Beyond the Basics: Tablets, Introduction to Facebook and Other Social Networks, and Fraud and Online Safety. AARP TEK provides the device for you during the workshop.
The Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Workshop is for Android smartphones. You must bring your own Android device and learn how to use it during the workshop.

How long are the workshops?
The Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Android Smartphone workshops are 90-minutes long.
The TEK Workshops (devices are supplied) are two hours long. Courses include:
- Introduction to Tablets
- Beyond the Basics: Tablets
- Introduction to Facebook and Other Social Networks
- Fraud and Online Safety
Do I need to bring my own device?
This depends on what workshop you will attend.
No, if you are attending the two-hour TEK Workshops. AARP TEK will provide devices for training at each of these sessions.
Yes, if you are attending the 90-minute BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) Workshops. You must bring your own Android smartphone to these workshops.
What types of devices will this event be trained on?
Devices in the two-hour TEK Workshops will differ from city to city, but the course is designed to teach basic skills that are relevant to all types of smartphones and tablets. The device type, however, is listed when you register.
For the 90-minute BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) Workshops you must bring your own Android smartphone.
Who can attend?
Anyone can attend; you do not need to be an AARP member or over 50.
How many guests can I bring?
You can bring up to five guests, for a total maximum of six in your party. Please note you must register each guest.
What time should I arrive?
It is first come, first served, but we strongly recommend coming to the event 30 minutes prior to start time.
Will there be another AARP TEK Workshop in my area?
Future events can be found on aarptek.org under Events. Workshop schedules are updated weekly.
Are meals/refreshments provided?
No meals or refreshments will be provided during the AARP TEK Workshops.
Is parking available at the event?
Parking is free at most venues.
Can I bring my child or grandchild to this workshop?
Please make arrangements to leave your small children or grandchildren with a sitter if you plan to attend an AARP TEK Workshop.

How do I keep in touch with my state AARP office?
You can find the AARP sate office on Facebook. Go to the Facebook search tool and type in AARP and the name of your state. This will pull up your home state’s AARP Facebook page. Click “Like” on this page and you will receive the latest updates, news and events from your AARP state chapter.
Does AARP offer a discount if I would like to purchase one of these devices?
Because this is a learning event and not a sales event, no devices can be purchased onsite. Some AARP partners do have special discounts on smartphones and tablets. Go to aarp.org for more information.
